ECE 4390 - Fiber Optics 3 Credits (3 Contact Hours) Covers the underlying principles of design for optical fibers in practical systems. Examines optical fiber as a wave-guide using wave optics and ray optics. Discusses design criteria for using mono- and multi-mode fibers. Other topics include fabrication, measurement. Preq: ECE 3810 with a C or better. Preq or concurrent enrollment: MATH 4340 with a C or better.
