Program Description

The Anthropology BA major prepares students for a variety of professional careers related to human resources, international business, public relations, museum and park service interpretation, health services, and other people-oriented positions in the public and private sector. In addition, the degree provides excellent preparation for graduate training in anthropology, law, health care, and business. The degree requires a total of 120-121 semester hours, including 38 credit hours in anthropology as identified below. In addition, students take a modern language and nine additional hours of social science or humanities courses related to Anthropology (from a department-approved list). These additional courses provide students with a greater depth and broader diversity of interdisciplinary knowledge useful for the direct application of an anthropological perspective to potential career paths. Courses used to fulfill General Education Requirements and Departmental Social Science and Humanities courses may be used to fulfill minor requirements. Courses that fulfill subfield and anthropology requirements may not double count with minor requirements.

Students wishing to change majors into the Anthropology BA program must have a 2.0 or higher Clemson/Bridge cumulative grade-point average.
