College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences

The mission of the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences (CAFLS) is to be a leader in education, research, extension and outreach programs that provide integrated and sustainable solutions for agriculture and natural resources. The college serves more than 2,000 graduate and undergraduate students.

The College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences remains grounded in the fundamental principle that Clemson University is committed by its land-grant legacy to ensure that higher education remains a public good, and that land-grant colleges link their expertise to the needs of the people. CAFLS provides unified education, research and public service in the grand challenges of global food supply and safety, human and animal nutrition, agricultural systems efficiency, environmental conservation, sustainable packaging, and renewable resources. Through rigorous experiential and classroom learning opportunities, CAFLS readies its graduates to assume leadership roles to ensure the future security and prosperity of South Carolinians and our growing global population.

The College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences offers masters and doctoral degree programs in the disciplines of agriculture, forestry and life sciences. The Master of Agricultural Education and Master of Forest Resources professional degrees are awarded to those individuals whose interests lie outside a research-oriented profession. Combined BS/MS programs are available for several degrees.

Cooperative programs with state, federal and private agencies allow students to extend their research to Clemson’s five research and education centers located across South Carolina, and to both state and national parks and forests. Its location in the South Carolina Piedmont and proximity to the Blue Ridge Mountains places Clemson in one of the most biologically diverse regions of the world.
