GEOL 4590 - Biogeochemistry 3 Credits (3 Contact Hours) Examines how biology directs mass and energy transfer between the lithosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere. Scale of examination ranges from molecular to global. Topics include element cycling, the mineral-microbe/plant interface, biomineralization, and biogeochemical applications to bioremediation, ecology, environmental toxicology, and biotechnology. Preq: GEOL 3180 ; and CH 2010 or CH 2230 .
