ME 8350 - Continuum Mechanics3 Credits (3 Contact Hours) An introduction to the essential mathematical foundations of continuum mechanics. Vectors and tensor analysis in Cartesian coordinates, Lagrangian and Eularian descriptions of motion, kinematics of deformation and general deformation analysis, linearization, the concept of stress and the various stress measures, conservation laws, thermodynamics, constitutive equations, elasticity, material symmetry, fluids, viscoelasticity, hyperelasticity, and plasticity are covered.
