ME 8240 - Advanced Estimation and Filtering3 Credits (3 Contact Hours) This course introduces students to engineering applications of parameter and state estimation. After a brief overview of basic concepts in probability, parameter estimation methods using Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian approaches are presented, followed by Random Processes, Least Square estimation, and Kalman Filtering for Linear Time-Invariant Systems. Applications in localization of robots, state estimation for vehicular systems, and Linear Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) control and adaptive control are discussed.
