CSM 4130 - Building Automation Systems and Health: Introduction to Building Systems and Sustainable Metrics 3 Credits (3 Contact Hours) This course covers the design and operation of mechanical and electrical control systems in buildings. Students learn principles of designing and integrating heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within the constraint of achieving satisfactory occupant thermal comfort, and are introduced to prevailing metrics and assessment tools pertaining to the built environment. The course introduces data analytics and data visualization software platforms; and explores measurement methods and calculations for the built environment, performance metrics and assessment methodologies over the building lifecycle, green building design guides, and application of green building rating systems (especially LEED). Construction Science and Management majors may not take this course for credit. Preq: Junior standing.
