HIST 4250 - Medicine and Modern Imperialism

3 Credits (3 Contact Hours)
An examination of the imperial roots of medical discourse and how colonialism was integral to the way the practice of medicine was institutionalized and influenced the emergence of local/regional medical practices. Students examine the social, political, and economic contexts of medical care and public health policy making. Topics include but are not limited to STI care, reproduction, tropical medicine, national health, and institutional discourse around medicine and public health. Preq: Sophomore standing.
