Program Description

Systems Engineers manage large and/or complex projects that are often comprised of multiple technical disciplines. The Master of Engineering degree program in Systems Engineering is designed to provide engineers and scientists coming from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds with the fundamental understanding of best practices and specialized tools used to design and study complex systems.

Graduates of this program demonstrate the capabilities and familiarity with modern toolsets to manage project life cycles from inception and development through project completion to meet stakeholder needs. Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree either in an engineering discipline or computer science.

Summary of Degree Requirements

The Master of Engineering (MEng) in Systems Engineering program is a non-thesis graduate program designed to prepare students for careers in industry. Students must complete at least 30 credit hours of approved coursework with cumulative GPR of 3.0 or higher.

Coursework

The curriculum consists of a core study of 12 credit hours in basic systems engineering (e.g., SYSE 8010 - Systems Engineering I , SYSE 8020 - Systems Engineering II ), an optimization course, and a model-based systems course, an emphasis study of 12 credit hours from an approved list to fit a student’s career objectives, and six credit hours of a capstone experience (e.g., ECE 7010 - Master of Engineering Design Project ). The student should be aware that undergraduate preparation may be a prerequisite for some of these courses.
