Program Description
The Doctor of Nursing Practice is a practice-focused program designed to prepare experts in specialized advanced practice roles. Students focus heavily on innovative and evidence-based practice, reflecting the application of credible research findings. Students in this program complete a practice application-oriented conclusive project, which is an integral part of the education experience.

Summary of Degree Requirements
The post-master’s DNP is a 35-credit hour program. All course work is provided in an online format. Students spend up to one to two days a year during the summer in on-campus immersion experiences for a program orientation and translational research symposia (a maximum of three summer immersions is anticipated). This is planned for the last Thursday and Friday of July each year, beginning with the DNP Orientation in year one. Students complete didactic coursework in a part-time program (minimum of six semesters). Graduation is based upon successful completion of all coursework and a DNP Project. DNP graduates must complete a total of 1000 hours, including precepted practicum hours earned in the MS Nursing Program.
