Genetics, MS


Program Description


The MS degree program in Genetics encompasses a variety of coursework in both plant and biomedical genetics. Genetics is a rapidly expanding field owing to molecular advances in medicine, human health, and agriculture. Enrollment in the Genetics program is open to students with baccalaureate degrees in agricultural, biological, or physical sciences or engineering. Entering students must have satisfactory academic records in mathematical, physical and biological sciences.

Summary of Degree Requirements


This master’s thesis option degree program includes a minimum of 24 hours of graduate credit and a minimum of six hours of master’s thesis research (8910). The final basis for granting this degree is the student’s grasp of the subject matter across a broad field of study, competence in planning and conducting research, and the ability to express themselves adequately and professionally both orally and in writing.
