Program Description
As the largest single industry in the United States and one of the most important, residential construction offers vast opportunities to highly motivated and professionally educated men and women. Future professionals must be skilled in managing people, equipment, and capital. The curriculum for the Residential Construction Concentration of the Bachelor of Science in Construction Science and Management provides the basis for those preparing for a career in residential construction as a builder or a developer.
Change of academic program requests are considered only once a year, after spring semester grades are posted. To receive consideration for a change of academic program, students must complete an application form and have their names placed on the waiting list. Students who wish to change their major to Construction Science and Management must have completed at least 30 credit hours with a minimum grade-point average of 3.0; and must have successfully completed ENGL 1030 , PHYS 2070 /PHYS 2090 , and the mathematics requirement (MATH 1020 or MATH 1060 ) by the end of the spring semester. Students should contact Gretchen Waugaman, Undergraduate Student Services Coordinator, in the Nieri Department of Construction, Planning, and Development at gretchw@clemson.edu, 864-656-3878, or 2-137 Lee Hall. The department’s Faculty Admissions Committee considers all requests and selects the top students by cumulative grade-point average based on space availability. Students who do not meet the minimum requirements at the end of the spring semester are not considered.
