Clinical Diagnostics Certificate

Program Description

The Clinical Diagnostics Certificate allows undergraduate students to apply their scientific skills in a clinical setting to perform a variety of diagnostic assays within a CLIA-certified, high-complexity laboratory. Students obtain the scientific, managerial, and logistical knowledge to participate within and operate a clinical diagnostic laboratory. The certificate requires a total of 15 credits as follows:

• BIOE 4260 - Clinical Laboratory Techniques 3 Credits  
• BIOE 4270 - Clinical Laboratory and Regulatory Management 3 Credits  
• BIOE 4280 - Advances in Biomolecules and Biosystems for Medical Applications 3 Credits   
• Six additional credits from a combination of  BIOE 4510 - Creative Inquiry in Bioengineering  and BIOE 4900 - Internship , with at least one credit from each course.
