Physical processes in the interstellar medium, physics of dust grains, physical models of and observational constraints on star formation and protostellar evolution and protoplanetary disks, (thermo)dynamics of stellar systems, models of galaxy formation, the Milky Way as a galaxy, stellar populations, galactic dynamics and chemical evolution.
