CSM 8690 - Advanced Drone Mapping and Modeling3 Credits (3 Contact Hours)
Exploration of data capture and analysis methods from small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) to support high quality 3D models and surveys. Students enrolled in the course take the FAA Part 107 exam and earn their remote pilots’ certificate. Drone flight skills are primarily taught through computer simulation software and a one-day onsite training session. Course focuses on processing data using software to create various digital outputs. This course is interdisciplinary in nature and well suited for students interested in construction, architecture, civil engineering, communication, real estate, surveying, photography, law enforcement, wildlife and agriculture.
