Program Description
Site characterization, slope stability analysis and stabilization techniques, foundation design, and earth retention system design are important for a practicing geotechnical engineer. While geotechnical engineers have some knowledge in these topics, the Design and Computational Modeling of Geotechnical Systems Certificate provides in-depth knowledge and the skill set necessary for performing site investigation and designing various geotechnical systems using analytical and numerical methods. The certificate is offered through the Glenn Department of Civil Engineering and comprises a series of three, three-credit courses that cover the concepts and applications of site investigation and design of shallow and deep foundations, slope stability analysis, and design of earth retention systems. All courses are offered online in synchronous mode so students can take the courses from any location.
