Program Description
The Master’s Degree in Music Education offered through the Department of Performing Arts at Clemson University is designed for certified working music teachers who desire to complete a master’s degree in music education while maintaining their full-time teaching position. This degree is designed to focus on practical experiences and relevant topics in music education that can be immediately implemented in the student’s current teaching setting, while providing a focus on choral/instrumental pedagogy with a valuable emphasis on music technology. Students are able to complete this 33-credit degree in three summer sessions.

This degree is offered in summer sessions only. Students are able to complete this 33-credit degree in three summer sessions, including a final research capstone completed under faculty advisement.
Outcomes, Learning Objectives, and Graduation Requirements
Graduation requirements include minimum of 33 credits and a capstone research project. Students who complete this degree are able to immediately apply historical, pedagogical, technological, and performance-based skills to their classrooms. Students are also prepared to perform research if they elect to pursue an additional degree(s) in higher education.
