Philosophy: Law, Liberty and Justice Emphasis Area, BA


Program Description


The Law, Liberty and Justice Emphasis Area of the Philosophy major consists of the standard Philosophy curriculum with the following special requirements:

  • PHIL 1040  and PHIL 3430  are both required for all Law, Liberty and Justice Emphasis Area students.
  • Law, Liberty and Justice Emphasis Area students are required to satisfy a Social/Political Theory distribution requirement instead of the Non-Value Theory distribution requirement in the standard Philosophy curriculum.
  • Law, Liberty and Justice Emphasis Area students are only required to select 12 credits of additional Major Requirements, rather than the 18 credits required in in the standard Philosophy curriculum.

NOTE: Pre-law students majoring in Philosophy should consult the departmental advisor for assistance with selecting appropriate coursework.
