Program Description
The College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences (CAFLS) Undeclared Major provides an opportunity for guided exploration of majors in the college. Students receive academic advising support while comparing academic disciplines so they can make informed decisions about which degree program to pursue.
CAFLS Undeclared students focus on completing General Education Requirements and available exploratory coursework for their major(s) of interest. Some exploratory courses have enrollment restrictions and may not be available. Additionally, it is not always possible to select courses that will apply to every major of interest, and as a result, some classes may count as electives. Academic advisors inform students which courses will apply to which majors of interest, allowing students to make informed decisions about their schedule each semester.
Students interested in pursuing a competitive entry major are advised to identify a parallel plan to pursue alongside the admissions process. Depending on the majors of interest, students may be advised to take available exploratory courses during their first two semesters in place of a general education requirement.
To ensure that students graduate in a timely manner, they are strongly advised to declare a degree-granting program by the end of their first year or once they have completed General Education requirements.
