HIST 4170 - History and Memory 3 Credits (3 Contact Hours) Examines collective memory and how historians use this framework to understand historic periods and subjects. Students explore how, why, and what societies, governments and institutions choose to commemorate. Special attention is given to the role public historians play in preserving, shaping, and disseminating stories about the past.
