American Sign Language - English Educational Interpreting Certificate

Program Description
The American Sign Language (ASL) - English Educational Interpreting Certificate is a 16-credit program designed to prepare students as entry-level interpreters to work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in K-12 classrooms. Course work focuses on interpreter processing skills, continued sign vocabulary development, the transfer of meaning between languages, and on interpreting in the educational setting. Occupational opportunities include entry level work as an interpreter in the public schools. In order to enroll in the certificate program, students must demonstrate fluency in American Sign Language and English.
