Minor Description
(23 credits minimum)
A minor in Technical German requires 23 credits as outlined below:
1. GER 2020 , GER 3060 , GER 3150 , and GER 3160 ; and
2. three additional credits selected from GER 3050 , GER 3060 , GER 3100 , GER 3400 , GER 3600 , GER 3690 , GER 3980 , GER 4050 , GER 4160 , GER 4170 , GER 4500 , GER 4550 , GER 4600 , GER 4610 , GER 4750 , GER 4980 ; or three additional credits taught in German selected from BE 4240 , BE 4400 , BIOE 4350 , CH 3310 , CH 3600 , CH 4040 , CH 4250 , ECE 4700 , ECE 4710 , EES 4010 , EES 4100 , EES 4300 , IE 4400 , IE 4570 , IE 4620 , IE 4880 , MATH 4000 , MATH 4100 , MATH 4120 , MATH 4190 , MATH 4340 , MATH 4350 , MATH 4400 , MATH 4530 , MATH 4600 , MATH 4630 , ME 4150 , ME 4170 , ME 4180 , ME 4200 , ME 4210 , ME 4220 , ME 4230 , ME 4250 , ME 4260 , ME 4280 , ME 4290 , ME 4300 , ME 4310 , ME 4320 , ME 4400 , ME 4540 , ME 4550 , ME 4570 , ME 4600 , ME 4710 , ME 4930 , PHYS 3110 , PHYS 3210 , PHYS 3550 , PHYS 4170 , PHYS 4200 , PHYS 4320 , PHYS 4410 , or PHYS 4520 ; and
3. eight credits of MATH 2060 and MATH 2080 taught in German; and
4. an international component that requires an approved experiential learning program with a German partner university; and
5. an approved immersive professional or technical experience in German, an internship with an international company, or the completion of an approved virtual or in-person research program in engineering or related technical fields.
Acceptance into the program is required. The international component must be approved in advance by a student advisor in the Department of Languages.
NOTE: This minor is generally intended for all majors in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences (as an Engineering + Languages program) or the College of Science. It is also open to all other majors except Language and International Health and in Language and International Business majors whose emphasis area is German.
