Program Requirements


The requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science consist of POSC 1010 , POSC 1020  or POSC 1040 POSC 1030 , POSC 1990 , POSC 4990 , and at least 24 additional credit hours in political science at the 3000-4000 level, including at least one course from each of the following fields:

Notes:


  • The student’s additional coursework in political science is chosen with the consent and advice of the departmental advisor to ensure an appropriate balance of breadth and specialization within the field of political science. In addition to the courses listed above, the department offers a wide range of specialized courses in each of the subfields of the political science discipline.
  • The Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science also requires additional arts and humanities courses beyond the basic General Education Requirements .
  • No more than three credits from POSC 3050 , POSC 3100 , POSC 3110 , POSC 3120 , POSC 3130 , POSC 4090 , and POSC 4100  may be applied toward a Political Science major.
  • Political science courses taken to fulfill the political science major and concentration requirements may not double count for any minor requirements.

  2. A transfer course may not be used to satisfy the General Education Global Challenges Requirement. While a transfer course may fulfill other degree requirements, students must enroll in a Clemson course(s) on the Global Challenges list to fulfill the Global Challenges Requirement.
